On Wednesday afternoon we talked about the possibility of the Detroit Lions making a move to bring in Jets receiver Denzel Mims. The basis behind that comes from the fact that when Mims was coming out in the draft, the Rams were very high on him. Lions GM Brad Holmes was the Rams Director of College Scouting at the time. Holmes must still have an interest in Mims because the Lions have made a trade to bring him in.

The details of the trade are as follows. The Lions are sending a conditional sixth round pick to the Jets for Denzel Mims and a 2025 7th round pick. A nice value for the Lions .

This is a great get for the Lions. Especially since the team will be missing Jameson Williams for the first six games of the season due to a suspension for violating the leagues gambling policy.

Mims is a big bodied 6-foot-3-inch receiver that has blazing speed. He ran a 4.38 at the combine in 2020. He also has a nice vertical leap as well. Mims can come in and get a much better shot at success than he had with the Jets due to the stability that the Lions bring. Especially at quarterback. Mims went through four different quarterbacks in three years with the Jets.

Mims has started 15 games for the Jets and racked up 42 receptions and 676 yards during his three years in New York. Mims could be the second former Jets receiver to come to Detroit and find his success. Kalif Raymond has been much better off in Detroit.
