The Lions went out there played one hell of a game in their 20-6 win over the Falcons. You could not have asked for a better defensive showing. The offense stumbled a bit, but they got it done when needed.

As always, I have thoughts on this game, these are those thoughts:

You wanted defense, here's some defense

This was one of the best games that Aaron Glenn has drawn up since he became the Lions defensive coordinator. The Lions absolutely stuffed the Falcons in every facet of the game. They forced turnovers, they got sacks, they stopped the pass and they stopped the run. There couldn't have been a better response from Glenn and the defense.

Jared Goff

Goff had another interception this week. This one was all on him this time. Outside of that, Goff had another really good game. He completed 66.7% of his passes in route to a 243 yard day with one passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown.

Brian Amani Branch is that guy pal

This kid is for real and he showed just how for real he is on Sunday against the Falcons. He had three tackles for losses and then followed that up with a couple of big pass breakups. One of which was on a third down that the Falcons were driving on.

It is not at all crazy to be putting Brian Branch and Sauce Gardner's names into the same sentence. This is not normal, this is a rookie that's out here playing like an All-Pro player in his third career game.

Get Sam LaPorta into your starting lineup

This kid had a monster game. Especially in the first half. He walked out with six catches for 70 yards and the big 45 yard touchdown. The Falcons did a better job of stopping him in the second half, but he still had a nice eight catches for 84 yards and that beautiful touchdown.

Gibbs vs Bijan

It wasn't exactly the fireworks that fans were maybe hoping for, but there were some sparklers. Jahmyr Gibbs came out with the better day in their first meeting. He ran for 79 yards on 17 carries. That's 4.7 yards per carry. Robinson ran for 33 yards on 10 carries. Is everyone ready to stop worrying about Gibbs now?

Sacks on Sack on Sacks

Let's all just be adults about this. How else are you supposed to explain it? The Lions had a ton of trouble getting home in the first two games of the season. That wasn't a problem for the Lions on Sunday. They had four sacks in the first half alone. Some notable ones were Jack Campbell getting his first career sack and Derrick Barnes continuing his stealer season with a big third down sack. The Lions had seven sacks in all.

Hutch is here

No more just pressures from Hutchinson. He went out there and imposed his will all day long. Hutchinson finished the day with two sacks. One of them being a strip sack on which he recovered the fumble too. Hell of a game.

Alex Anzalone's Combat Football

Bill Laimbeer's combat basketball was all about launching yourself at guys and hitting them. That's pretty much all Alex Anzalone did on Sunday. He launched himself at guys and was going like 97miles per hour in the process. This is why deserves his own game on Super Nintendo.

Nice to see Kalif

Kalif Raymond was nearly a missing persons case in Week 1. You could see him out there in Week 2, but the Lions got him really involved in Week 3 against the Falcons and it paid off with some big plays. Raymond had multiple catches for well over 10 yards in this game. Raymond finished the game with four catches for 55 yards.

Iffy

The former 3rd round pick had a really nice game in his first start if the season. He had couple nice pass breakups and and some stops. I'm happy to be wrong about this kid. I thought he would be a surprise right before camp. I was definitely wrong.

New information has come out about Jameson Williams’ suspension

Ok, here's the thing. The long held belief about Jameson Williams suspension is that he could return to the Detroit Lions to practice starting after three weeks of his suspension. On Friday we learned that this is not the case.  Jameson Williams can come back to the facility, he can get treatment, go to meetings […]
