Cornerback Cam Sutton hasn't taken a snap yet for the Detroit Lions, but he might already be a fan favorite.
Sutton met with reporters on Thursday at Detroit's OTA session and he dropped a quote the Lions fans will absolutely love.
The former Tennessee Vols standout made it clear that he's loved his time in the city of Detroit so far. Sutton also pointed out that he can feel that Lions fans are hungry for success.
"You know, even being around the city, you know, moving around, just I loved all the energy," said Sutton. "Love all the connections and relationships that I'm building in this small little window that I've been here. And just obviously looking to continue with that. And it just feels like a second home — you guys have embraced me with open arms. And you know, just having that love, that energy behind you makes you want to, you know, run through a wall for this city. You know what I mean? So every time I step on the field, you're not gonna get nothing less than everything. That's just the mentality."
Sutton, who signed a three-year free agent deal with the Lions earlier this offseason, doesn't view Detroit as a city that he's just passing through. Instead, he's looking to make himself part of the community. And he desperately wants to help bring a championship to Detroit.
There's plenty of work to be done this offseason, but the Lions have a group of players that's capable of making some noise this season.
The NFC North is essentially wide open this fall, so why not the Lions?
