Another rumor fresh out of the oven. The Detroit Lions seems to be showing a lot of interest in filling the spot along the interior of their defensive line. We already know that Dolphins defensive lineman Christian Wilkins is a top target for them. Now we can add Bengals lineman D.J. Reader to the list.

Reader had a pretty nice career with both the Bengals and the Texans and helped the Bengals reach the Super Bowl as their starter in 2021. Reader is suburb run stopper that could be both a starter and premium depth for this team. He had a 75.3 run blocking grade for the Bengals last season. The pass rushing grade was pretty good too although he only got home once. Reader is more of a space eater that can help the better pass rushers do their job.

Reader was one of our top 105 free agents this year and he would be a really inexpensive addition for Detroit. Our on staff cap analysts project that he could get a three year deal worth $34.5 million with an $11.5 million yearly salary and $22.5 million guaranteed.

Let's see where this interest goes.
