Well, you can't fault the Detroit Lions for trying to make their biggest strength even stronger in the 2023 NFL Draft. The offense was good in 2022, but there was definitely still room to grow.

That is apparently what the Lions were focusing on when they drafted Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round and Iowa tight end Sam LaPorta with the first pick in the second round. That's right, another tight end is coming to Detroit.

LaPorta is the second Iowa man to make his way to Detroit through the draft, joining linebacker Jack Campbell who arrived in the first round.

The newest weapon for Jared Goff and the Lions is one of the most productive players in Iowa Hawkeyes history and was one of the best college football tight ends in the country last season.

Lions fans can expect to see this kid a lot in 2023 as the team looks for as many ways as possible to improve the roster where it counts.
