The Detroit Lions just got some big help at the tight end position. Brock Wright had a huge 30 yard catch in the divisional round and unfortunately he injured his forearm at some point. He's expected to hit injured reserve soon. So the Lions went out and signed a multi-time Pro Bowl tight end to fill in.
Zach Ertz will be signing with the Lions. This isn't the first time that the Lions and Ertz have been in the same sentence during the playoffs. Ertz was brought up as an idea for the Lions after Sam LaPorta got hurt in Week 18. Now it's real, now he's here.
Ertz is a three time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl champion. He spent the early part of this season with the Cardinals before asking for his release and being granted it. Ertz did not retire, he's been looking for a contending team to play for a now he's found one.
Ertz recorded 27 catches for 187 yards and a touchdown in seven games with the Cardinals this year. he had a much more productive 2022 though. 47 catches for 406 yards and four touchdowns. While Brock Wright is good, the Lions just got a lot more dangerous at tight end.
