After an offseason where it seemed like everything was going in favor of the Detroit Lions, some bad news was bound to come.

2023 was supposed to be all about the Lions reentering the limelight as one of the best teams in the NFC, but they're going to need some slightly new plans based on recent news from the NFL.

Jameson Williams is one of several players for the Lions that has just been suspended by the NFL for a violation of the NFL's policy on gambling.

Williams isn't the only player to hurt the Lions with a decision off the field, but his absence for those six games should hurt the most after waiting so long for him to finally start to find his stride in more than a brief appearance.

Lions fans haven't seen much from the promising player their team drafted up to keep on ice for his first year in the league. That one touchdown reception made it seem like the Lions could have one of the best receiver duos in the league in 2023, and the growing excitement around Williams was as easy to see in the fanbase as anything else.

Now, the Lions are going to have to start the year without Williams yet again, and the clock just resets as it will be more than a quarter of the season before the team is back to full strength in a pivotal season.

Jameson Williams is going to have a lot to make up to the Lions franchise and the fanbase when he finally makes it back on the field.
