Is the Lambeau Field bogeyman dead for the Lions?

There was a time when the mere mention of Lambeau Field would make shivers go down your spine if you're a Detroit Lions fan. From 1992 to 2014, the Lions just could not win in this stadium. That's 24 straight losses.  In 2015, the Lions finally went to Lambeau and got a win 18-16. Even […]

Even in that game it seemed like they were going to lose late in the game when Calvin Johnson had trouble with an onside kick. Since then, the Lions have gone 4-4 at Lambeau Field. The biggest win of them all was, of course, last season.

The Lions went into the final game of the season at Lambeau Field like they had done so many times before and killed their demons once and for all. That game was so important for the Lions to become who they are today. They had to slay the Aaron Rodgers dragon and the Lambeau Field dragon in order to pass on to the next level.

There couldn't have been a more significant end to that game than Kerby Joseph's interception on the final throw of Aaron Rodgers Packers career. It finally just put all that bad stuff to bed.

This isn't to say that the Lions are now guaranteed victory anytime they step on the field in Green Bay. They still have to go out and fight a Packers team that's a lot tougher than they look and is coming off a big come from behind win on Sunday.

What it means is that the Lions can go out there and play this game without the history in their head. Lions fans can watch this game without the history in their head. Although, I know that's very hard for them to do.

The point is that so many things that you've known about the Lions your whole life just don't matter anymore. Its as if the team didn't really exist until 2021 and everything before that was just, I don't know, beta testing?

Have fun on Thursday night Lions fans. You don't have to be scared anymore.
