Like the value or hate it, the Detroit Lions were able to put together a group of players in the 2023 NFL Draft that is sure to contribute in the upcoming season.

This is good news for a Lions team that desperately needed to fill out its roster before a season that could see the first Lions playoff run in decades.

The roster from 2022 wasn't bad, but it was easy to see that there were several obvious areas for improvements on the roster. The draft was able to address this well, and now the necessary followup moves have occurred.

The Lions have waived three players and none come as a major surprise. None of the three played a large role on the team last season and that didn't appear likely to change with some of the team's new additions in the draft and free agency.

Depth helps, especially for a team that would like to make a push in the playoffs, but none of these three would be game-changers in that role over the recent additions to the defensive line, corner, and wide receiver.

Cuts were always coming. At least Detroit was able to make the situation a little easier by cutting these three before training camp actually starts.
