Will Anderson draft selection becoming more likely for Detroit Lions
It isn’t out of the question.
The NFL Draft can be a weird animal. Predicting which players fall where and who moves up or down is next to impossible, but this whole process is at least a bit more enjoyable for the Detroit Lions.
The Lions have few pressing needs after a quality start to free agency and have the luxury of being able to wait and then take the top player on the board.
Whether this player is a pass rusher, defensive lineman, or corner matters little.
With an impressive run on quarterbacks already going down, there are essentially two teams picking before the Lions that shouldn't target a quarterback, and this number could come down with a trade up from someone else.
This could then leave the Lions with few obstacles preventing them from drafting Alabama pass rusher Will Anderson.
In a weaker quarterback class, Anderson would make a claim as the top pick. Heck, his skillset, college tape, stats, and athleticism already do this.
Anderson might be a little small but more than makes up for that in creativity and remarkable speed matched with quickness.
If the Lions want a lightning-thunder dynamic for their pass rush and a claim to one of the best duos in the league down the road, pairing the skillsets of Anderson and Aidan Hutchinson seems like a no-brainer.
If Anderson is available at six, which is on the table, the Lions shouldn't even think about it.
You don't think twice about drafting a guy that is as fast as a wide receiver and able to post 34.5 sacks and 58.5 tackles for loss against SEC offenses.
It still seems like one domino will need to fall before Lions fans can start getting excited about this coming true, but it really isn't as far off from happening as some might think.
