The Detroit Lions must be working on something here, because this seems odd. The Lions have released running back Craig Reynolds. He was thought to be a lock to make the Lions roster as their running back three after taking hold of the most of the snaps during the preseason, but he's gone.
The Lions will only be keeping three running backs on their initial 53 man roster. David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs and fullback Jason Cabinda.
Reynolds has been with the Lions since the 2021 season when he came on in relief due to injuries and showed out. He showed out enough for the Lions to bring him back in 2022. Unfortunately, Reynolds dealt with some injuries and and his usage started to slip.
He was thought to battle it out for the third spot since the beginning of camp. When Justin Jackson surprisingly retired, the job seemed to go to Reynolds. The Lions may be in the market for another running back before you know it.
