What a season this Detroit Lions team had. After decades of futility, the Lions came out and had the most magical season of my and a lot of other people's lifetime. The Lions went from a 9-8 team with some hype to a 14-6 team that won the divsion for the first time in 30 years, won a playoff game for the first time in 30 years and then won another playoff game. They came within one score of making it to the Super Bowl.

Let me remind you that this is a rebuild that started three years ago. This is the fifth youngest team in the NFL. The fifth! Look what they just did. To quote Lions head coach Dan Campbell, "do you have any idea what you're doing right now?"

This is only the beginning for this team. The window just opened for the Lions. This is a team that has a ton of cap space, a lot of draft capital, a guy who's really good at using that draft capital and a culture that everyone is going to want to be a part of. That didn't just go away on Sunday night.

Keep in mind that the Lions are essentially about to lose none of their good players in free agency. There's C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Jalen Reeve-Maybin, but the likelihood that they return is pretty good.

This is going to hurt for a minute. But you have to come away from this season knowing that the the Lions are at the start of things here. This is not the end. This isn't the fourth try and you just can't seem to get past this mark. The Lions are incredibly ahead of schedule and they have a chance to be an even better team in 2024. Imagine what this Lions team can be with a few more weapons. They will be back.
