Jets WR Garrett Wilson Film Breakdown
Strengths:
- Route Running: Wilson is a polished route-runner with the ability to create separation from defenders through his crisp breaks and footwork. He has an excellent understanding of how to set up his routes and read defenses to find open space.
- Hands: Wilson has reliable hands, making tough catches in traffic and showing the ability to snag the ball out of the air with ease. He's a natural pass-catcher and has shown the ability to make acrobatic catches in crucial moments.
- YAC Ability: After catching the ball, Wilson has a knack for making defenders miss and gaining extra yardage. He has excellent vision and quickness to create space and turn upfield.
- Athleticism: Wilson possesses impressive athleticism and speed, making him a deep threat down the field. He has quick acceleration off the line of scrimmage and can create separation with his burst.
Weaknesses:
- Size: At 6'0" and 193 pounds, Wilson is slightly undersized for a prototypical NFL wide receiver, which may impact his ability to win contested catches at the next level.
- Physicality: Wilson can struggle with physicality at times, as he can get knocked off his route by aggressive defenders. He may need to develop more strength and physicality to consistently beat press coverage in the NFL.
- Blocking: While Wilson has shown flashes of being a willing blocker, his technique and consistency in this area could use improvement. He may need to become a more reliable blocker in the NFL to see increased playing time.
