Kader Kohou brings CRAZY VALUE to the Dolphins defense: Film Breakdown
In this film breakdown, we take a look at Miami Dolphins CB Kader Kohou, an undrafted player out of Texas A&M Commerce that has become a really strong NFL slot corner.
Kader Kohou was thrust into the lineup last season as a rookie, when Byron Jones went down, which gave him a ton of action, as teams consistently game planned towards him. He was the 2nd-most targeted CB in the NFL last year, but held his own, proving that he belonged in a stacked Miami secondary. He played 55% of his nearly 1,000 snaps from the slot, a number that should only increase with the addition of Jalen Ramsey. He's a small player, but physical at the line of scrimmage and catch point. Kohou was great underneath last year, but struggled deep, allowing big plays and getting flagged for DPI. He's really good when things are in front of him, but he will take his game to the next level if he can improve going deep and over his head.
Dolphins CB Kader Kohou Film Breakdown
Strengths:
- Size and length: Kohou is 6'2" and 205 pounds, with a long wingspan. This gives him a physical advantage over many receivers.
- Speed: Kohou is a good athlete, with good speed and acceleration. This allows him to stay in-phase with receivers and make plays on the ball.
- Ball skills: Kohou has good hands and anticipation. He is able to make plays on the ball in the air, and he has a knack for picking off passes.
- Instincts: Kohou is a smart player with good instincts. He is able to read the quarterback and receivers, and he is able to make plays on the ball in zone coverage.
Weaknesses:
- Technique: Kohou is still a young player, and he is still developing his technique. He can sometimes get caught looking in the backfield, and he can get beat by receivers who are more technical than him.
- Deep-Ball Coverage: Kohou was great underneath last year, but struggled deep, allowing big plays and getting flagged for DPI. He's really good when things are in front of him, but he will take his game to the next level if he can improve going deep and over his head.
