Titans new OT Andre Dillard will help modernize their offense: Film Breakdown
In this film breakdown, we take a look at Titans new OT Andre Dillard, a former 1st round pick by the Eagles.
Dillard has only played roughly 700 snaps in his career, leaving us with a small sample size to work from. However, I'm a fan of this signing, both because of Dillard's athleticism and potential, and because of what I think the signing symbolizes for the Titans. I expect Dillard to be a starter for the Titans next season, and while he might struggle some in the run game, his athleticism and versatility should allow him to improve and adjust to a new offensive scheme, if given significant snaps.
Titans OT Andre Dillard Film Breakdown
Strengths:
- Athleticism: Dillard is a very athletic offensive tackle who moves well for his size. He has quick feet and can mirror defenders in pass protection.
- Pass blocking: Dillard is a strong pass blocker who uses his quick feet and athleticism to protect the quarterback's blindside. He has good hand placement and can anchor against bull rushes from defenders.
- Technique: Dillard has good technique and is fundamentally sound in his pass sets. He has quick hands and can punch defenders to disrupt their timing.
Weaknesses:
- Run blocking: While Dillard is a strong pass blocker, he has struggled with run blocking in the NFL. He can struggle to generate movement at the point of attack and can get pushed back by stronger defenders.
- Strength: Dillard has good athleticism and technique, but he can struggle with strength and power. He needs to get stronger in order to hold up against the stronger defenders in the NFL.
- Injuries: Dillard has been plagued by injuries during his time in the NFL, which has limited his playing time and development. He needs to stay healthy in order to reach his full potential.
