In this film breakdown, we take a look at Buffalo Bills LB Tremaine Edmunds, who is now one of the top free agents on the market.
Edmunds is just 24 years old, entering the league at 20 years old after being taken 16th overall by Buffalo in the 2018 NFL Draft. In his 4 years, Edmunds has become one of the best young linebackers in the NFL, possessing generational athletic ability. He's listed right around 6'5 250lbs, he runs a 4.5 40-yard dash, and he has tremendous range and ability as both a run stopper and coverage backer. He was arguably the best cover linebacker in the NFL last season, and he doesn't come with the drawbacks that most good cover LBs have.
Bills LB Tremaine Edmunds Film Breakdown

- Physicality: Edmunds is a physical player who is not afraid to lay a big hit on an opponent. He has the strength and power to take on blockers and shed them to make a tackle.
- Versatility: Edmunds has the ability to play multiple linebacker positions, and has even lined up as a defensive end in certain situations. This versatility makes him a valuable asset to any defense.
Weaknesses:
- Consistency: Edmunds has shown flashes of brilliance, but he has been inconsistent at times. He needs to be more consistent in his play and avoid mental mistakes.
- Tackling: While Edmunds is a physical player, he needs to improve his tackling technique. He sometimes goes for the big hit instead of wrapping up the ball carrier, which can result in missed tackles.
- Pass coverage: Despite his athleticism, Edmunds has struggled at times in pass coverage. He needs to improve his ability to read and react to pass plays, and work on his technique when covering receivers and tight ends.
