Why the Falcons Offense could be VERY DANGEROUS in 2023: Film Breakdown
In this film breakdown, we take a look at the 2023 Atlanta Falcons offense, one of the most intriguing units in the league, that is a combination of elite playmakers and massive question marks.
The Atlanta Falcons are led by OC Dave Ragone, one of the boldest and most creative play callers in the NFL, and a few premier young players like QB Desmond Ridder, WR Drake London, TE Kyle Pitts, and RB Bijan Robinson. However, the combination of talent and uncertainty that I mentioned is what makes them so interesting. I can see tons of different outcomes for this offense and this team as a result, which is why I'm so curious to see them in 2023.
Atlanta Falcons 2023 Preview Film Breakdown
The Key Pillars to this offense are the outside zone runs and play-action passes that attack the middle of the field.
Atlanta ran outside zone 261 times in 2022.. the most of any team since 2015. Averaging almost 5.3 yards per attempt, the Falcons clearly adopted their bread & butter play.
There aren't as many visual keys in this offense for an opposing defense to rely on, so when executed correctly can be a lot for a defense to handle. They might have a jet-sweep formation that appears the same as 15 other plays they run.
Everything is designed to look the same pre-snap so plays build on top of one another through out the game.
