Why Tyler Smith is the Dallas Cowboys LT of the future: Film Breakdown
In this film breakdown, we take a look at rookie LT Tyler Smith, the future at LT for the Dallas Cowboys.
Outside of a unusually poor performance vs the Giants in Week 12, Smith has had an outstanding rookie season with the Cowboys. As the left tackle, his play has a high impact on the outcome of the game, despite fitting the characteristics for a guard better. He has adjusted to the speed of the NFL better than most rookie offensive lineman by this point, and in my opinion, needs to stay the left tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, instead of moving back to the interior.
Cowboys LT Tyler Smith Film Breakdown
Despite being drafted for his potential, a plethora of injuries on the Cowboys OL forced Smith into a starting role immediately. Smith played 1,272 snaps last season (99% of the offensive snaps), and ranked as the 25th-rated tackle in the NFL, which is remarkable, considering the circumstances.
Smith proved this past season that not only is he the Cowboys left tackle of the future, but that he's ready to take that role right now.
