After not playing a snap for the first 5 weeks of his rookie year, Rashid Shaheed made an immediate impact when he got a chance, scoring on his first NFL touch on a jet sweep, then following that up with a deep ball TD the next week. After that, he quickly emerged as one of the most efficient receivers in the entire NFL, leading all receivers in EPA/target, success rate, passer rating when targeted, and did not have a single drop. Shaheed has great speed, strong hands, and really skilled footwork. I expect his ability as a deep threat to give him more chances underneath in 2023, since teams have to respect his ability to run by them.

Strengths:

  • Speed: Shaheed is one of the fastest players in the NFL. He has a 40-yard dash time of 4.3 seconds, and he is a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball.
  • Hands: Shaheed has good hands and can make tough catches. He is also a good route runner and can get open against defenders.
  • Return Man: Shaheed is a dangerous return man. He has returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in his NFL career, and he is always a threat to take it back to the house.

Weaknesses:

  • Route running: Shaheed's route running is not as polished as some of the other receivers in the NFL. He can sometimes get lost in coverage, and he needs to improve his technique.
  • Blocking: Shaheed is not a great blocker. He needs to improve his strength and technique in order to be more effective in blocking for his teammates.
  • Concentration: Shaheed can sometimes be a bit of a "headcase." He has been known to make mental mistakes, and he needs to improve his concentration in order to reach his full potential.
