A warning to avoid strenuous outdoor activity didn't stop the Green Bay Packers from practicing on Wednesday. This is the NFL – teams have to learn to perform despite their surroundings. Within a reasonable expectation, of course.
Regardless, the heat certainly took its toll. Second-year defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt dropped out of practice, for example. Overall, it was a grueling day.
But, that didn't stop quarterback Jordan Love and running back Aaron Jones, two of the Packers' biggest stars, from staying after practice and meeting fans/signing autographs. Christian Watson and others also stuck around, but most of the players reportedly went straight inside after practice.
Hey, you can't really blame them for wanting to go inside after practicing for two hours in that weather. At the same time, however, this was the final training camp practice available to the public.
Love and Jones recognized that and took full advantage of the situation by giving plenty of love (no pun intended) to their biggest supporters. Per ESPN's Rob Demovsky, Love was even the last player to leave the field.
It's an awesome gesture and it certainly didn't have to happen. Especially on a day like Wednesday.
But, as they say: actions speak louder than words. These guys are clearly grateful for the love and support they receive and they are more than willing to reciprocate their benefactors.
That, along with both players' leadership skills and mentality, are perfect examples of why Packers fans adore them as much as they do.
