Last season, the Green Bay Packers sent their All-Pro WR Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. Leaving QB Aaron Rodgers searching for his new number one.
A season later, the Packers have developed their young receivers, but Rodgers likely won't be there for a second act. The Packers are likely to trade Rodgers, as retirement was at one point an option, is not going to happen just yet.
It's looking like if Rodgers doesn't head to the favorite, New York Jets, he is headed west.
No, no the San Francisco 49ers. A team that Rodgers himself says he won't be going to. Rather the LV Raiders, or at least his former teammate believes it to be so.
Rodgers joining the Raiders is a real possibility. Vegas and QB Derek Carr are in the middle of an amicable divorce (as much as someone possibly could) and will be making the split this spring.
Vegas already has just under $20 million in projected cap space for 2023 and a Carr trade with a pre-June 1st designation would open up another $29.25 million. Even better would be the trade assets involved.
The Green Bay Packers dealing Adams netted them a first and second round picks. However, recent QB trades like Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson and Matthew Stafford indicate the trade's start at least two first round picks.
Rodgers contract may complicate the overall trade, as far as what else will need to be added alongside (draft picks/ other players) to complete the deal.
The Raiders are very much in the mix for the Packers quarterback, and it could net both sides hefty sums.
