The Green Bay Packers kicked off the weekend with some great news on Friday.

Over the last few weeks, numerous analysts have suggested that Packers running back Aaron Jones could be a cap casualty this offseason — especially if Aaron Rodgers doesn't play in Green Bay next season.

While we don't know Rodgers' plans yet for 2023 (we have to wait for him to emerge from the darkness), we at least know the Packers' plans for Jones.

The former Pro Bowl running back will be back in Green Bay in 2023.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Friday that Jones agreed to restructure his deal to stay with the Packers.

Jones was expected to have the highest cap hit of any running back in the NFL in 2023. But the restructured deal will leave the Packers with a much more manageable cap hit this upcoming season.

Jones played in all 17 games for the Packers in 2022 and set a career-high with 1,121 rushing yards. He rushed for two touchdowns and also caught 59 passes for 395 yards and five touchdowns.

The former UTEP running back told TMZ at the Super Bowl that he wants Rodgers back in Green Bay in 2023.

Maybe Jones agreed to this restructured deal because he knows the Packers are going to bring Rodgers back.

Rodgers, of course, still has to decide if he wants to play in 2023. But if he does return, staying in Green Bay would be his best bet. And if the Packers put a solid group of players around him — including some of his favorites, like Jones — then I think he'd gladly return.

It ultimately depends on what Rodgers says once he emerges from his darkness retreat. But Jones returning in 2023 seems to indicate that Green Bay is at least somewhat interested in running it back with Rodgers and company next season. Otherwise, it would've been easy to move on from a 28-year-old running back with a hefty cap hit.
