The Green Bay Packers know who they will face in 2024, and the list doesn't include Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. Based on the 17th game model, the Packers will face an AFC East team next year, but the Packers ended the 2023 season in second place in the NFC North, and the Jets were third in the AFC East.

So, the Packers AFC East's opponent will be the Miami Dolphins, who lost to the Buffalo Bills and let the division title slip at the last moment.

With that, the Packers will only face the Jets again in 2026. By that time, Aaron Rodgers will be 43 years old, which means that maybe the future Hall of Famer will never face his old team — unless it happens in the Super Bowl.

Who the Packers do face

Next year, the NFC North crosses paths with the NFC West and the AFC South. So the Packers will face all four teams of each division. They also have two games against the second place teams in the NFC South and NFC East. Those teams will be the New Orleans Saints, at Lambeau Field, and the Philadelphia Eagles in Pennsylvania.

Against the NFC West teams, the Packers will play the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers in Green Bay, while visiting the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams.

Versus AFC South teams, the Packers will host the Houston Texans (Jordan Love vs CJ Stroud!) and the Indianapolis Colts. They will play at the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Good news

The NFL adopted the 17-game schedule in 2021. It alternates year by year which conference will host more games. In 2021 and 2023, NFC teams played only eight home games and nine away games. In 2022, NFC teams did play nine home games, but the Packers had a neutral game in London against the New York Giants.

So, unless the NFL sets a new international game for the Packers (which seems unlikely at this point), Green Bay will finally play nine games at Lambeau Field in the same season.

The bigger risk here would be the Miami Dolphins. The team is slated to play an early regular season game in Brazil, and it's expected to be an away game against an NFC team. The possible games in this scenario would be the Packers, Seattle Seahawks, or Los Angeles Rams.

By current NFL rules, however, teams can only be forced to play abroad once every eight years. There's a possibility to reduce this timeline to four years, but either way the Packers couldn't be forced to play outside of the United States before 2026.
