The status of Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is easily one of the biggest and most important storylines heading into this week's matchup against the Detroit Lions and Packers WR Romeo Doubs just threw gas on the fire when it comes to whether or not Jones plays.

"We'll have 33 back," Doubs told reporters when asked if Jones plays on Thursday, via The Athletic's Matt Schneidman. "That's the plan."

Jones' return would be a huge boost for the Packers offense, obviously. Even if the Pro Bowler were on a pitch count. He's a matchup nightmare that can line up all across the offense.

Despite not playing since Week 1, Jones is the team's fourth-leading receiver with 86 yards and his 41 rushing yards are second-most among running backs. He was the spark that helped the Packers pull away from the Chicago Bears, so it's safe to say he can easily provide the same experience against another divisional foe in the Lions.

And the importance of win on Thursday trounces Week 1's importance. The Lions are considered to be the cream of the NFC North crop and the Bears are, well, a team that has lost 13 straight games dating back to last season.

A win on Thursday would give the Packers sole possession of the NFC North and a one-game lead over the Lions. A win would give the team major momentum ahead of their Monday night matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5.

We'll see what Matt LaFleur has to say when he speaks to the media later today. But, it's probably guaranteed he won't be as transparent (or optimistic) as Doubs.
