Aaron Rodgers won't be playing for the Green Bay Packers in 2023.

Rodgers made the revelation during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday.

Rodgers admitted to McAfee that things changed in his decision-making process after he emerged from his darkness retreat last month.

The future Hall of Famer told McAfee that he went into the darkness retreat thinking the Packers wanted him back in 2023. He also said he was 90 percent sure he was going to retire.

"When I came out of the darkness, something changed," said Rodgers. "I got back to my phone after five days…I realized there had been a little bit of a shift. I heard from multiple people around the league that I trust that there was some shopping going on. They were interested in moving me."

"I gotta admit, I went into the darkness 90 percent retired," said Rodgers.

Rodgers went on to say that he still has a fire to play. And since he felt it was clear that Green Bay wanted to move on, he felt like he needed to find a new place to play. Rodgers said he didn't know what changed on the Packers' end.

It sounds like if Green Bay would've asked him to return, he probably would've. But because they signaled that they were ready to move on from him, Rodgers didn't feel like he'd be welcomed back.

So if you're a Packers fan and you're looking for someone to blame for Rodgers not returning in 2023, it's all on Green Bay's front office…for better or worse.
