The Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears rivalry is already hitting close to home for rookie wide receiver Jayden Reed.

The Packers second-round pick out Michigan State has shown where his new loyalties stand leading up to Sunday's game against the Bears.

The Aurora, Illinois native admitted that he originally grew up a Bears fan while talking to reporters on Wednesday inside the locker room after practice. However, his stance has shifted since joining the Packers squad back in April.

"I mean, I flipped the script already," Reed said. "I'm a Packer now. It's the Packers vs. the Bears. I'm no longer a Bears fan. I'm a Packers player, and I'm just ready to go out there and compete."

"I kind of get a laugh out of it," he added. "Just thinking about it, growing up wearing that [Bears] gear and now I'm actually in the Packers' gear. So you know, it's definitely a funny story, but everything happens for a reason."

Reed is expected to take on a sizable role in the Packers' offense on Sunday after being listed as one of the team's starting three wide receivers according to their official depth chart.

That role continues to grow day by day after the two wide receivers listed ahead of him, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, both missed practice on Wednesday. Doubs returned to the field on Thursday but there was no sign of Watson for the second straight day.

Despite the heightened expectations coming in his NFL debut, Reed has been seemingly unflappable all week but now realizes that his mindset could fluctuate come Sunday.

"I don't feel too much of nerves but I feel like it'll hit close to the game to be honest," he explained. "But I feel very confident about the playbook and everything and that just builds my confidence for the game."

His nerves should likely be put at ease knowing that he will have some familiar faces the stands at Soldier Field with his family in attendance cheering him on. We'll just have to wait and see if they'll still be wearing their Bears' gear or not.
