The Green Bay Packers are actively looking to add another wide receiver, either via trade, the 2022 NFL Draft, or free agency (though the free agent options are slim at this point).

According to a report from Jordan Schultz, the Packers are one of the teams that have checked in on Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

Cooks, who will turn 29 this fall, is a former first-round draft choice who is entering his ninth season in the NFL.

Cooks has never reached a Pro-Bowl, but he's certainly a Pro-Bowl caliber wide receiver.

The former Oregon State standout has gone over 1,000 receiving yards in six of his eight NFL seasons.

This past season, with a rookie quarterback in Davis Mills, Cooks caught 90 passes for 1,037 yards and six touchdowns.

Cooks wouldn't be a headline-grabbing acquisition like DK Metcalf would be, but he would be a tremendous addition to the Packers' offense. He has the speed to stretch the field vertically. And he's played with several different quarterbacks, which means he should quickly be able to adjust to playing with Aaron Rodgers.

It probably wouldn't cost too much to acquire Cooks, either. Pro Football Network's Aaron Wilson reported earlier this week that the cost for Cooks would be a second-round draft pick.

That could be viewed by some as expensive, but I don't think that's a big ask for a proven wide receiver like Cooks — especially considering how badly the Packers need another wide receiver.

We'll see how this plays out, but it definitely feels like Green Bay is going to make a trade soon.
