JJ Watt is one of the most accomplished Houston Texans of all time.

The now-retired edge defender holds the Texans' all-time records in sacks, forced fumbles, and fumble recoveries. Watt led the NFL in sacks twice and earned First-team All-Pro honors five times.

The star defender was released after the 2020 season and quickly latched on with the Arizona Cardinals. Watt announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2022 season, and will now return to Houston to receive the highest honor a team can give a player.

Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Texans will officially induct Watt into the team's Ring of Honor on October 1st.

Watt will become just the third member of the club, joining receiver Andre Johnson and the late Bob McNair.

Notably, Watt's brother TJ will be in attendance as the Steelers are slated to play in Houston on that day.

It's hard to think of a more deserving player than Watt. After being selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Watt was a nightmare to opposing quarterbacks for the next decade. Watt finished his Texans' career with 101 sacks over 10 seasons and also set an NFL record by collecting 20+ sacks in a season twice. Watt was a mainstay on the most successful Texans' teams of all time, including the 12-4 2012 team and the 11-5 2018 team.

Finally, Watt is considered one of the best humans in the sport. Watt received the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2017 and is loved in Houston for his humanitarian efforts following Hurricane Harvey.

Congrats to JJ and his family on this prestigious honor!
