The Houston Texans have been pretty grateful to have some really, really good football players play in that red and blue. In fact, two of their best players ever, and some would argue the two best Texans of all time, played really not that long ago.
Both are Hall of Famers; at least, they both should be. Of course, there is J.J. Watt, who at one point was the best defensive player in the league a few different times. He was one of the most dominant players at his peak.
Then there is Andre Johnson, who is one of the best receivers we have ever seen. He embodied what it meant to be a Texan while also being the best. The two are great friends, and both will soon be in the Hall of Fame, we hope, anyway. For Johnson, he was recently named a semifinalist for the class of 2024.
J.J. Watt just retired last year, so he is not eligible just yet. However, Johnson thinks he may have retired too early.
"I think he retired a little early," Johnson told reporters. "I think he still has some football left in him. His coming back here would be crazy. If he chooses to do that, I think it would be a great thing."
Instead of being back in Florida for retirement, Johnson has been hanging around the Texans' facilities. So has Watt, and the rumors have been swirling that he wants to rejoin the team that drafted him. That would indeed be crazy.
But Johnson kept it real there when talking about Watt retiring too early. I think we all know that.
