The Houston Texans are already spending some of their $70 million in cap space, and free agency hasn't even started yet.
This time, it's to re-sign one of their better offensive players. Heading into this offseason, the Texans had 29 free agents from their 2023 roster entering free agency.
However, they made it clear they didn't want Dalton Schultz hitting the market next Wednesday.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Texans are re-signing tight end Dalton Schultz, bringing him back on a three-year deal worth $36 million.
Last year, he had a career season after taking a prove-it deal with the Texans. It's safe to say he proved what he needed to, as he is getting a pretty penny to stay in Houston and to play with one of the best quarterbacks in the league in C.J. Stroud.
