Jacksonville Jaguars fans will see something new, yet familiar, when they walk towards the stadium on gamedays this fall.
Per News4Jax.com, TIAA Bank Field will be changing its name back to EverBank Stadium starting this fall. EverBank Field was the name of the Jaguars' Stadium from 2010 to 2018.
The change was made as part of a transfer of interests in TIAA Bank, in which The Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA) sold off substantially all of its interest in TIAA Bank to private investors. Per a letter from TIAA Bank vice president Mark Baum to the City of Jacksonville, TIAA is asking now for the city and the Jaguars to accept their request to change the stadium's name back to EverBank Stadium.
The Jaguars' stadium has had a number of name changes over the years. The facility first started out at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium from 1995-1996, later becoming Alltel Stadium from 1997 until 2007, when it again became Jacksonville Municipal Stadium after the former telecommunications company was sold. It became EverBank Field in 2010, which it remained until the team announced the change to TIAA Bank Field in 2018.
The city and team should confirm the change, so the name change will be in effect when the Jaguars kick off their home schedule on September 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
As such, fans who joyously left the stadium under the words "EverBank" after the Jaguars beat the Buffalo Bills in the 2017-2018 playoffs are certainly hoping for deja vu just 6 years later.
