The wait is almost over, at least according to Las Vegas Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler.

He is planning to field trade offers for longtime Raiders starting quarterback Derek Carr soon, and he expects the phone to be ringing off the hook.

"I think here this week at the Senior Bowl, obviously everybody's here. This is a good time to have those conversations," Ziegler said Thursday in an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio. "There's going to be people interested in Derek Carr. There's no doubt about that. He's been a good football player in this league for quite some time. Like I said, he's a phenomenal human being, and we'll kind of see where it goes."

Carr has had stretches of great football. But he hasn't been consistently good enough to fit into the Raiders' long-term plans. Whether it is a poor fit with head coach Josh McDaniels or inconsistencies in the passing game, Carr just hasn't been the answer Las Vegas was looking for.

Sensing what felt inevitable all season, McDaniels benched Carr before the end of the season. Now, it is on the Raiders to find a trade partner. But if you ask Ziegler, that should come easy.
