With all of the turmoil now surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders after their absurd loss to the New Orleans Saints, fans are calling for decisions to be made.
A successful season isn't always a Super Bowl, a playoff win, or even a winning season. Every team has different goals. Now, whether those teams achieve the goals they have in place, is on them.
While we aren't 100% sure what the Raiders' goal was for the season, I am 100% confident in saying it likely wasn't starting the season 2-5 after reaching the playoffs last season.
This team is talented. The roster is stacked in certain areas, and now they have hit a reset button when it comes to coaching, but that shouldn't change the fact that their goal should still be a playoff appearance at the least considering the events that unfolded in January last season.
This team made the playoffs and lost to the team that would go on to the Super Bowl. So, there should be goals in mind.
In my opinion, and this is all subjective, it seems as if the Raiders as a team have given up on that. When you get shut out by the team that allows the second most points per game, you have some rethinking to do. Not to mention, you just had a bye week two weeks ago.
Because of what happened, and some other stuff from this season, fans are calling for new Raiders' head coach Josh McDaniels to be fired. I understand the frustration, too.
However, owner Mark Davis doesn't think the fans should be calling for his job, and in fact, guaranteed something to Raider Nation.
According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Mark Davis said today, “Josh McDaniels is our head coach and will be for years to come.”
Davis is almost directly speaking to any fa or media member who is calling for our job and basically saying 'give it time' when they shouldn't need it.
This was a playoff team last season and now is looking at having a top-five pick in the NFL draft.
