The Las Vegas Raiders made it clear at the end of the season that they would be in the market for a new quarterback. As sad as it may be to see Derek Carr go after nine seasons in silver and black, it was time.

Now, the Raiders could stick with Jarrett Stidham for another year, or find one in the free-agent market. Maybe a Tom Brady? But, if none of that were to work out, they have a really good pick in this year’s draft to go get a quarterback that could change the outlook of the future of the franchise.

There are three quarterbacks that will likely be gone after the first 10 picks of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Raiders will have a shot at taking one of them, that is if they fall to seven. The one I think has the biggest chance to fall to the Raiders pick is C.J. Stroud from Ohio State, and he is the perfect fit.

Stroud, to me, is the most pro-ready quarterback in this draft. You could make an argument that at moments over the last two college seasons, he was the best quarterback in college football.

The 21-year-old shows up in the biggest games, as we saw in the 2023 Peach Bowl against the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs. Per Pro Football Focus, that was his best game of the year, as he graded out at 92.2 on a scale of 0-100.

Stroud did well with the weapons he had all year, similar to what the Raiders have in Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, and Darren Waller. He is great at throwing the deep ball, can hit receivers over the middle of the field, and loves to find guys in the flat.

The Raiders could be on the clock at seven with a quarterback like Stroud who has elite potential just waiting to be given a chance. If Las Vegas wants a chance at becoming the next big dog in the AFC West, it starts with getting the quarterback position right.

Stroud finished his 2022 campaign with 41 passing touchdowns, and just six touchdowns, with nearly 4,000 passing yards to go along with it. And, he plays in one of the best football conferences in college, against some of the best defenses.

I think if you go to Stroud at seven, if he is available, that’s the right decision. Stroud has shown the will and want to play football. This is a guy who loves to play, and he leaves his all on the field every snap, every game.

This guy would be the right guy for the Raiders.
