The Las Vegas Raiders just can't get out of their own way. This loss was completely on them, and not the fact that the Los Angeles Chargers just beat them. The Raiders had a chance to tie the game but got in their own way.
They have to do a better job of putting themselves in positions to win if they want to be a successful team. That includes coaching, in which Josh McDaniels was awful on Sunday.
The penalties, self-inflicted wounds, turnovers, negative plays, and many other things all contributed towards the Raiders now being 1-3, and one Raiders star seems fed up.
"We did a lot of stuff to ourselves," Josh Jacobs said. "Until we're willing to look in the mirror and be willing to correct those things, it's going to keep happening. It's undisciplined football, and this league is too competitive to go out there and not do the little things right every play. I am tired of losing. I am tired of fucking losing, man.
"Every day, I go in there and work my ass off, so eventually, something has to give. 5-6 plays, you do them right, the difference in the outcome of the game, but at the same time, you're tired of saying 5-6 plays… it's just time to do that, sh*t."
In his first-ever NFL action, the Raiders allowed Aidan O'Connell to be sacked seven times, six by Khalil Mack, a former Raider. The poor play-calling and bad positioning on the game's last play for the Raiders caused the interception.
O'Connell had to start because Jimmy Garoppolo was ruled out with a concussion. If he had to start again, you can only hope the Raiders would put him in better positions to win.
Josh Jacobs is completely right; if he is upset, he has every right to be. He did much better this week, but the game plan and offensive line have not allowed him to get going quite like he did last season.
Something has to change.

The Raiders could do nothing about it.
