The Las Vegas Raiders had an odd situation to end the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football, to say the least. Jimmy Garoppolo was getting beat up all night, being hit left and right by the Steelers' defensive line.
There were a few hits that definitely raised some questions. Once, he was bent in half backward, and another time, towards the end of the game, he was hit helmet to helmet.
However, there was no concern for a concussion until after the game. We figured this out by waiting for Garoppolo's media availability for at least 3 minutes, only to later receive a notification that he was being checked for a concussion.
On Monday morning, the Raiders head coach confirmed that he was in the protocol and explained why it wasn't until after the game that he was checked out.
"There was nothing ever mentioned or talked about relative to that," McDaniels said. "I'm not even sure when, what hit, or if it was just a culmination. I have no idea. There was never a conversation about that, so I'm not sure exactly. I haven't seen him yet this morning, so I'm not exactly sure when it took place or if it was just a culmination of things."
This is definitely something to monitor, as there is a big possibility we could see either Brian Hoyer or Aidan O'Connell play as quarterback in the next week.
