The Las Vegas Raiders will have even more drama over the next month.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, running back Josh Jacobs and the Raiders failed to reach an agreement on the franchise tag, in which the deadline to do so was Monday.
The Raiders offered Jacobs the franchise tag of around $11 million for one more year on the tag. Jacobs, who is 25 and plays who of the most physically demanding positions, wants more after having a career year in 2022.
Knowing that a great year could get him paid more, Jacobs went out and led the league in rushing and was looked at as the best running back in the league for most of the season. He even got better in the receiving game too.
Now, according to Schefter, Jacobs is expected to sit out of training camp.
The running back position is the most underpaid in all of the NFL when factoring in what they do. The shelf life isn't very long at all. Sitting out could hurt Jacobs' pockets, but this is more about the long term than right now. He didn't sign the tender, so he is not required to be at camp.
