The Las Vegas Raiders are starting to look extremely good with their draft pick choice of Aidan O'Connell, the rookie quarterback from Purdue. Last week he was great; you could say he started even better on Saturday.
On Sunday, the Raider's young quarterback orchestrated the offense to perfection against the San Francisco 49ers. Against the Los Angeles Rams, he did something a bit different – he threw the ball deep and fit a ball deep in the corner of the endzone for a touchdown. Both were more than impressive plays.
The first play of the game for O'Connell was a deep ball try to Tre Tucker, and it seems that the ball was very catchable, but maybe Tucker lost it in the air. It's also very possible that it was under-thrown.
Later in the same drive, Aidan O'Connell would make sure to connect with Tucker, but for a 40-yard reception, he fit the ball perfectly in a window between two defensive backs. It was beautiful.
As everyone was in awe of the play, O'Connell slowly but steadily marched the Raiders down the field to score on his first offensive possession.
O'Connell threw a touchdown that fit perfectly into the back of the end zone. It was perfect, and the Rams challenged the play in such a tight space.
O'Connell has shown enough. We can confidently say he is the QB2 on the roster now. He finished his first drive going 4/6 and 77 yards passing, with a touchdown and two gorgeous plays.
