Matthew Stafford is part of a rare breed of quarterback that doesn't come around often anymore — a gunslinger.

But the Los Angeles Rams' starter is also part of an elite club of athletic sack-evasive signal callers. That is tongue and cheek — well, sort of.

Stafford has been sacked 25 times this season. The offensive line has done a good job of keeping the quarterback upright. But Stafford has done his part as well.

When Stafford is pressured on dropbacks, only three quarterbacks are better than him at avoiding sacks. They are the following: Jarad Goff, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen.

Here is the full list:

  • Brock Purdy (14.8%)
  • Matthew Stafford (14.5%)
  • Jared Goff (14.3%)
  • Patrick Mahomes (10.2%)
  • Josh Allen (10%)

Stafford has moved well throughout the season. And the stats show that. He has also played some of his best football during the late stretch of the season as the Rams fight for a playoff spot after their slow start.

Currently, Stafford sits in the top 15 in passing yards (3,320), top 10 in touchdowns (21), and seventh in QBR (62.8).

In the last five games, Stafford has thrown for 1,250 yards, 13 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He has also boasted a 104.6 passer rating.

He has somehow also made throws like this:

Stafford isn't a perfect quarterback. But he has played some of his best football as of late. He has also managed to not get sacked nearly as much as he has in years past.

If he gets into the playoffs, he will be on several other lists, not just evading sacks when pressured.
