For all the questions the Miami Dolphins have with QB Tua Tagovailoa, his future and the team's future at the position, it seemingly is quieter now. At least on the quarterback front.

However, another key Dolphins playmaker's future is in question.

TE Mike Gesicki is set to hit free agency again. He played the 2022 season on the franchise tag, and with the tag amount to increase this offseason, it's doubtful they place the tag on him again.

However, losing Gesicki is still on of the Dolphins better playmakers, despite his questionable 'fit' in Mike McDaniel's offense. Seeing less targets, receptions and yards since his rookie year.

Despite his fit and future with the offense, the highs and lows of Gesicki have all been predicated on his performances. His ability to make plays.

Making great plays.

And not so great plays as well.

Regardless, Gesicki has been a productive weapon since his arrival in 2018. Especially an incredible three year run from 2019-21 as maybe Miami's best offensive player.

Combining for 286 targets, 177 receptions (61.9%) for 2,053 yards and 13 touchdowns. His speed and ability as a receiver, even as a third or fourth option has made him valuable in the open market.

According to Spotrac, Gesicki's market value is estimated to be at least $8.2 million per year. Which would make him the 16th-highest paid tight end in the NFL, as well as the Dolphins highest estimated value unrestricted free agent.

The issue is the Miami Dolphins are estimated to start the new league year $16.3 million over the cap. Miami will need to restructure or release players just to get out of the red, before they will be able to think about extending players.

It's an unfortunate and underrated question but has Mike Gesicki played his last game in Miami?
