Tyreek Hill has been an unstoppable force for the Miami Dolphins this season. So, when he's not in the game, it is very noticeable.
The Dolphins have a divisional matchup against Zach Wilson, last week's AFC Player of the Week, and the New York Jets on Sunday. But Hill's status is up in the air.
However, one insider provided some more context on the big decision for this weekend.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins will allow Hill to make the ultimate decision on his status this weekend. He has been dealing with an ankle injury.
On Friday's injury report, Hill was listed as questionable.
Head coach Mike McDaniel spoke about the injury earlier in the day, saying that they will evaluate Hill on Sunday. Specifically they wanted to ensure he can be himself on the field and won't further aggravate the injury.
The Sun Sentinel's David Furones added some additional context.
The star receiver was injured in the Dolphins Monday night matchup against the Tennessee Titans after Sean Murphy-Bunting executing a hip-drop tackle on Hill. He also got away with a horse-collar tackle.
Guessing what Hill's decision will be
This one is simple: there is no way he isn't playing.
The Dolphins currently hold the No. 2 spot in the AFC, just behind the Baltimore Ravens. And a first week bye would sure be nice.
With only four games remaining in the regular season, the Dolphins are looking to overtake the Ravens and they will need Hill to do that.
When Hill was sidelined in the last game, the Dolphins offense struggled. And it highlighted how important he truly is for Miami.
Despite being down on the ground in pain after the initial tackle last week, he ultimately was able to walk on his own. And he even eventually ran to the sidelines.
He was not going to stay down, and fans could tell he was itching to get back into the game. That proved that he is a true competitor.
Because of that, there is no way Hill will miss out on this divisional matchup. Instead, the Dolphins could look to bench him if they pull out to a large enough lead.
But regardless, I'd expect him on the field when Miami's offense starts its first drive.
