Scratch one bit item off the Miami Dolphins' offseason to do list.
The Miami Dolphins reached an agreement with WR Jaylen Waddle on Thursday on a contract extension, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal is reportedly for three years at $84.75 million with $76 million guaranteed.
The deal also puts Waddle among the top five in the league of annual average value of his contract at $28.25 million AAV.
Waddle's performance on the field has been worthy of that type of pay. The fourth-year wideout is the franchise leader in receiving yards in franchise history through his first three seasons with 3385 yards. He's broken the 1000-yard receiving mark each of his first three seasons with a career-high 104 catches during his rookie season in 2021.
Despite ceding catches to Tyreek Hill the last two seasons, Waddle has still managed to produce in a big way in Mike McDaniel's offense, and it's clear the franchise saw his as an indispensable part of it moving forward. His average yards per catch leapt from 9.8 in 2021 to 18.1 in 2022 in his first year with McDaniel.
Now, the Dolphins can fully work on trying to lock in his former Alabama teammate and the man throwing him the ball in Tua Tagovailoa.
