Trade rumors were prevalent all summer involving Danielle Hunter. The veteran was reportedly unhappy with his contract and/or the idea of playing on a "rebuilding" team.
Ultimately, the Vikings decided to hold on to the star edge rusher. That decision has turned out to be the right one.
Hunter has collected 8 sacks through six games this season. For reference, the Vikings as a team have 18 sacks. Without Hunter, the Vikings would be the worst pass-rushing team in the league.
Not only has Hunter been the best pass rusher on the Vikings, but he has been one of the best in the entire league. Hunter is tied with the Steelers' TJ Watt for the league-lead in sacks.
The Vikings are sitting at 2-4 through six games. The playoffs may be a longshot, but as long as the team has a chance, Hunter should not be traded. Initially, I had Hunter as one of the players the Vikes should consider moving. However, his presence is so important to this defense, you can't trade a player like that unless there's no shot at the playoffs.
Keeping Hunter was the best decision the Vikings made this offseason.
