That leaves the Vikings with two avenues to improve their wide receiver room: the draft and by trade.

The 2023 class of wideouts isn’t exactly loaded with game-changing players at the position. Plus, the Vikings have a few other major needs to take care of in the early round of the draft.

If general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah doesn’t properly address the wide receiver position in the draft, there is an intriguing trade option that just became available.

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly shopping Cedric Wilson Jr., according to the Miami Herald. Wilson signed a three-year deal worth $22 million last offseason, but the dynamic deep threat struggled to produce in Miami.

In 2022, Wilson recorded 12 receptions for 136 yards in 15 games. However, Wilson played behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle who combined for 194 receptions for 3,066 yards and 15 touchdowns.

To say Wilson’s role was diminished would be an understatement.

Wilson carries an $8 million cap hit in 2023, which is a cost the Dolphins would like to avoid. But for Minnesota, Wilson could serve as a capable WR2.

In 2021, Wilson had a career year. He totaled 45 catches for 602 receiving yards and six touchdowns for the Dallas Cowboys. He looked ready to take the next step, but his new home didn’t do him any favors.

Wilson’s stock isn’t as high as it was heading into last offseason, which could give Minnesota a low-risk option at a discounted price. At six-foot-two and 200 pounds, Wilson has elite run-after-catch ability to go along with his elite speed.

If the Vikings can’t land one of the top receivers in the 2023 NFL Draft, Wilson would be more than serviceable for a high-flying passing game. Adofo-Mensah should put in a call to Miami regarding Wilson who provides plenty of bang for the Vikings’ buck.
