2023 four-star offensive lineman Joe Crocker is a player that Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Vols absolutely must land.
Crocker, 6-foot-6/315 lbs from Nashville, TN (Franklin Road Academy), is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 26 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 11 player in Tennessee.
The four-star offensive tackle is an ideal fit for Heupel's offense. He has the size to be a dominant force in the SEC, but he also possesses the necessary athleticism to play in Heupel's up-tempo offense.
"Besides ideal measurables for the offensive tackle position, Crocker also brings excellent athleticism to the position," says Rivals national recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt.
Crocker is originally from England, but he moved to Tennessee while he was in elementary school, after also spending time in Australia and Scotland.
Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh was born in Russia, so there could certainly be an opportunity for a unique bond between himself and Crocker.
The highly sought-after offensive lineman told 247Sports' Ryan Callahan in March that his recruitment is "wide open", though he acknowledged that Tennessee's status as the in-state program will play a factor in his decision.
“I’ve grown up in Tennessee," said Crocker. "It’s close to my family, so that’s definitely an important thing to me. I will always kind of value that."
Crocker visited UT in 2019 for the Vols' matchup against Vanderbilt. He's also attended several games at Neyland Stadium.
The battle for Crocker is just heating up, but it sounds like the Vols are poised to make a serious run at the talented offensive tackle.
