The Heisman Trophy may be the most iconic in all of sports, awarded to the best player in all of College Football. It's the most prestigious title any individual can hold in the sport besides perhaps being called a national champion.
So, who are the early favorites in 2024 to strike that famous pose and make college football history this fall? According to a handful sports books, early favorites to win the storied Heisman award are almost exclusively from the SEC. That makes plenty of sense considering four of the last five winners have come from the "It Just Means More" conference.

If you're unfamiliar with how to read or understand Heisman Trophy odds, in short, a $100 bet on +750 odds would net a $750 profit for the bettor. In other words, a quarterback with +750 betting odds has a 7.5 to 1 chance of winning (around 11.76%).
Heavy Favorites
Based on these early odds, Quinn Ewers (Texas) and Carson Beck (Georgia) account for nearly 25% of the implied odds to win the Heisman Trophy.
Ewers of course just took the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff last fall, and if it weren't for Alabama playing spoilers in the SEC Championship Carson Beck would likely have had Georgia there too. Neither was a particularly high-volume passer last season, but both Ewers and Beck posted top ten pass efficiency numbers among returning college quarterbacks.
High Upside Transfers
Dillon Gabriel (Oregon) and Will Howard (Ohio State) joined new teams this offseason (Gabriel from Oklahoma, Howard from Kansas State), so one might think they could struggle early on. However, both have proven productive track records with 76 starts between them.
Gabriel may have the narrative advantage going for him given that if he starts 14 games, averaging 310 passing yards and 2.2 passing touchdowns in that span he'll own the all-time college football records for most career starts, passing yards, and passing touchdowns.
Howard may have the surrounding talent advantage given Ohio State returns nearly their entire roster.
Best of the Rest
Jalen Milroe could be forced to carry an Alabama offense that will be replacing nearly all of it's skill position talent from a year ago. If he runs like he did in the back half of 2023 and maintains his top five passing efficiency thanks to some big plays in Kalen DeBoer's high-powered offense he could definitely win the Heisman.
Nico Iamaleava already has a significant hype train rolling coming off his first ever start against Iowa in the Citrus Bowl in January where he scored four touchdowns. The young "8-million dollar quarterback" seems to be the perfect fit for Josh Heupel's pass-happy scheme.
And last, but not least, Jaxson Dart may be the best value on the board. Ole Miss returns almost all of their 2023 starting roster, brought in several key transfers, and is clearly going all-in to make the College Football Playoff this year. Dart surprisingly posted top ten efficiency marks in the nation last year as a passer and has racked up over 1000 rushing yards in the past two seasons. He could certainly take the next step and bring home the Heisman trophy.
It's still very early, and in many of the previous years the actual Heisman winner wasn't one of the big favorites (Jayden Daniels, Joe Burrow, and Devonta Smith for example), but it seems there will certainly be plenty of exciting competition to take home the trophy this year.
