The Tennessee Vols could be landing an elite 2023 four-star recruit in the next couple of days if 247Sports' director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong's prediction is correct.

Wiltfong locked in a prediction on Tuesday afternoon for Tennessee to land four-star athlete Cam Seldon. He had previously predicted last February that Seldon would commit to Penn State.

The Vols are battling Maryland and Penn State for the talented defensive back.

Seldon, 6-foot-1/220 lbs from Heathsville, VA (Northumberland), is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 7 athlete in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Virginia. He's also rated as the No. 104 overall player in the nation.

He'll likely play wide receiver if he commits to the Vols, but he could play numerous positions depending on need.

Here's the scouting report on Seldon from 247Sports midland region recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks:

Unverified size but looks and plays big. Dynamic high school playmaker who projects to receiver, but could legitimately play several different positions in the future. Got snaps at QB, receiver, cornerback, safety, and kick returner as a sophomore. Quantifiable athleticism that clearly manifests on the field. Ran a 10.81 100 and a 22.20 200 during sophomore track season. Flashes great acceleration and long speed. Shows terrific run-after-catch ability and run strength. Limited sophomore sample size (abbreviated three-game spring season). Faces lower level of competition. Raw in general, but particularly in position-specific technical areas. Nevertheless, a true football player with high-level instincts and playmaking athleticism. Projects to the Power Five level as an impact player at receiver, though a defensive back seven position could also fit quite well.

Seldon is set to announce his commitment on July 7.

Tennessee currently has 14 players committed to its 2023 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 11 in the nation.
