The Tennessee Vols will kick off their 2023 season on Saturday in Nashville with a game against the Virginia Cavaliers.

Tennessee's matchup with Virginia will be the third regular season game the Vols have played at Nissan Stadium (they previously faced Bowling Green in 2015 and Wyoming in 2002).

UT has also played in three Music City Bowls in Nashville (2010 against North Carolina, 2016 against Nebraska, and 2021 against Purdue). The Vols are 3-2 in games in Nashville.

The five previous times that Tennessee's played in Nissan Stadium, the field has had non-checkerboard end zones.

But that won't be the case on Saturday.

One of the end zones will feature a checkerboard.

It appears that the other end zone will feature a Virginia inspired end zone.
