CBS Sports revealed their top 10 quarterbacks for the 2022 season this week and three quarterbacks from the SEC made their list.

Alabama's Bryce Young came in at No. 1, Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker was at No. 5 and Georgia's Stetson Bennett was No. 10.

Here's what CBS Sports had to say about Hooker:

You have to feel bad for Virginia Tech fans, who have seen some questionable quarterback play in recent years and had to watch Hooker transfer to Tennessee and light it up. Hooker threw for 2,945 yards and 31 touchdowns with only three interceptions, rushing for 613 yards and five more scores. He will likely post similar numbers again this season in Josh Heupel's offense, and it is Hooker who makes the Volunteers a sleeper in the SEC East.

Most of the preseason quarterback lists I've seen have had Hooker ranked below players like Kentucky's Will Levis, Arkansas' KJ Jefferson, and/or Mississippi State's Will Rogers.

It has to be nice for Vols fans to see Hooker get some significant praise from CBS Sports, an outlet that at times has seemed to have an anti-Tennessee tone.

Of course, while it's nice for Hooker to receive the praise, he still has to go out on the field and prove he's a top-five quarterback. What happened last season is in the past. It's a blank slate once kickoff comes on Thursday night.
