One of the reasons the Tennessee Vols' offense is so hard to defend is because of their tempo.

Tennessee's offense moves as fast as any offense in the nation which can often cause confusion for opposing defenses.

On Wednesday, Clemson defensive lineman Bryan Bresee was asked about the Vols' up-tempo offense and how the Tigers have been preparing for it.

Bresee told reporters that attempting to practice Tennessee's tempo was "kind of a shock".

"They do a great job of being if not the fastest, top two or three fastest teams in college football," said Bresee. "We've seen it on film and then you get to practice and really understand how fast it is. It was kind of a shock to us, but we've had a long time to prepare for that and our coaches and scout team have done a great job of getting us prepared for it."

"We know we have to be in shape to play a team like this," added Bresee.

Tempo is only part of what the Vols do. There were plenty of times this season when Tennessee slowed the offense down and they were still able to be effective. The threat of the tempo, however, is always there with Tennessee's offense.

Clemson's had a lot of time to prepare for the Vols' tempo, which is certainly an advantage for the Tigers.

But at the same time, Tennessee's also had a month to throw in some new wrinkles — especially with Joe Milton starting at quarterback instead of Hendon Hooker (who is out with a torn ACL). Milton is 6-foot-5/245 lbs. With that size, it wouldn't be a surprise if we see some more designed quarterback runs from the Vols in this matchup against Clemson.
